It is now close approaching 3 years since I started accutane and is 2½ years since I finished my treatment. I can honestly say it has been a resounding success. I was very nervous for some time afterwards and I was not convinced that I had normal skin for almost a year afterwards. It took me about 6 months to calm down the panic when ever I saw a spot and to realise that it was just a spot not the start of some hideous resurgence of the dreaded Acne!
Yes, I get the odd spot once every month or so, and in all honesty my back and chest aren’t blemish free, but I look back at what was and what is and realise that there is nothing remotely in existence now compared to what was before and therefore I am happy with the results I have. I suppose that if I was a perfectionist then I would ask for a repeat course but I do not think that the little difference that would make would really benefit me. I do however; still have a tube of Isotrex that I will occasionally use on my back if I have about 3 or 4 little eruptions. This is very rare but I guess its security knowing that I have that there.
I have shown two pictures below that display how bad my face is to what it is now. I hope you can appreciate the benefit to the skin. If you have any comments on my experiences please get in touch.
